The installation of Volant’s Cold Air Intake is simple. The factory Jeep air intake box is replaced with the new Volant intake box, inlet tubes and rubber couplers. Stainless steel clamps are included and you’ll only need a few tools. Adding more protection and horsepower to your 3.6L V6 couldn’t be easier. If you’re playing in the dirt or simply commuting in smoggy, grungy conditions, having proper filtration and unrestricted air flow is one of the best things you can do to make your Jeep JK Wrangler more responsive and proficient. Installation Of Volant’s CAI Kit On The 2012 Jeep JK Wrangler 3.6L Engine.

Here is the stock intake set up for the 3.6L V6 Jeep JK Wrangler

Start the installation by removing the engine cover.

The factory air filter housing and filter are easily removed with a screwdriver.

Disconnect the MAF sensor harness.

Next the clamps to the inlet tubes and air filter housing are removed and the inlet tubes are taken off.

Remove the MAF sensor from the stock intake tube.

Remove the vacuum hose connecting to the factory air filter box.

Pull up on the factory air filter box and remove it from the filter box base.

Before removing the air filter housing, undo the bolt that lies along the inner fender wall. This allows you to remove the air box base.

The new CAI kit from Volant will look great and features a window on the lid to see the condition of the filter.

Insert the larger Volant filter box into the engine compartment.

The OEM filter base bolt is used to secure the Volant box to the Jeep's inner fender.

Install the Mass Air Flow Sensor to the rubber grommet on the Volant intake tube.

Volant’s intake tube is now installed with the provided couplers and clamps.

The stainless steel clamps are tightened at the throttle body and air filter box.

The MAF sensor plug is reattached to the new intake tube.

The vacuum hose is attached to the Volant intake tube.

This intake uses Volant's Pro-5 cotton/gauze filter and it's clamped into place. The system is also available with a Volatn Powercore filter.

Lastly the sharp looking stainless steel air filter cover is attached to complete the installation.

The sealed air intake system keeps out hot engine heat, but features larger air inlet vents to allow more cold air to get to the filter. For extreme conditions, both filter options can be used with Volant’s pre-filter cover, sold separately, that prevents moisture and mud from clogging up the system. Volant’s Jeep Wrangler Cold Air Intake can also be connected to the company’s popular snorkel, PN- 37738. The snorkel keeps heavy dust and moisture away from the intake system, allowing it to gather clean, cold air from above the vehicle’s roof line.
